Would this be considered common or weird?

It would be common... Im a habs fan and when the hamilton bulldogs play in the Centre Bell (they do it like 2 or 3 times a year) montrealers go and wear habs stuff... it doesnt matter what you wear, they are affiliated to the NHL team so its not weird at all
