Sometimes I get "pieces" of white stuff that smell very foul that come up when I cough.?

It's like the size of a cottage cheese curdle. It's very disgusting. It doesn't happen all the time, just when I cough deep. Anyone experience this? If so, what is it? I have acid reflux and allergies but don't know if that is even related to this.
